Tea Adventures!
Hey, this might be the last post I have to travel to Blenz to write since the internets our in our house right now settling in. As soon as they're nested we're online ladies and gentlemen!
Anyway I haven't really much to write because I've just been getting tea-trained of late and I've no great photos to show. Apologies.
The tea training's pretty good. Had the "tea talk" to start with so was learning all the stuff that was in my tea notes (although since I bought a notebook and copied them all out by hand into it (thus hurting my elbow from lying on the carpet writing) I knew most of it already. I'm a nerd). After that I got taught how to make all the drinks they sell. You'd think it'd be water and tea leaves right but you'd be wrong. Matchaccino anyone? Yeah they do like tea lattes, tea smoothies (NOT how tea should be drunk under any circumstances), iced teas, matcha (ground up green tea), matcha lattes, chai lattes and all sorts of perverse beverages. So I got that pretty much down then had till training. It's kinda confusing because we have drinks, food, loose leaf tea to sell and merchandise teapots etc) so there's around one million keys for different stuff. I'm getting there though. Soon I'll be a pro.
I got all proud yesterday too because a guy came in (clearly more money than sense) and asked me for advise on green teas; he wanted a high end Japanese one (pretty sure he was a mystery shopper) so I was able to direct him to the Gyokuro which is a shade grown Sencha variety. Because it's grown in the shade it develops a higher chlorophyll content which means it has more antioxidants and less caffeine than regular Sencha. So I told him this and he bought 2 small tins of it. Which is really expensive ($42) because it's one of our 'rare' ones. I was all up on my high horse. Hopefully soon I'll know all about the all the teas. I'm not sure how many there are but there's an entire wall full of the tins of them (I'll try an get a photo sometime) so I'm going for lots and lots!
So yeah, I'm enjoying work right now. Also, my boss is a French version of Mr. Big from Sex And They City.
Umm I don't think I have any other news. We went for a couple beers last night at the Yaletown Brewery which is a microbrewery so they brew all the beers they sell themselves. Me an Debbie got a bit toasty with a 9% beer!! Tasted of alcohol.
Oohh yeah I also got hit by a car in the least dramatic car accident in history.
What happened was it was a green (actually white) man and so we were crossing the road. There was a car there that seemed to have stopped but it must have just been moving really slowly because it kept coming and kind of pressed itself against my legs at around 3-4mph. I kinda moved into Debbie and by the time this had all happened I'd cleared the road and was pretty much on the pavement. The guy in the car didn't really look like he knew what was going on so christ knows what was going on there though. The old couple crossing behind us shouted at him though. I wasn't injured in any way so don't worry. Didn't even get my jeans dirty.
Alright I think I'm done. I'm also hungry so should swing by Safeway to get burger ingredients. Mmmm. Take it easy!
