DogBlog.
Happy New Year everyone!! What did everyone get upto?
We had a bit of a lazy day in the morning and didn't start our preparations until around 2pm when we went to Save On Foods (so much better than Safeway) to buy all the food we'd need for dinner and to tend to our hangovers. In Save On Foods Debbie found some Irn Bru in the 'foreign foods' section. So exotic! Also in Save On Foods was this dog.
He looks so sad because his owner went away. I went over to say hi and he licked my hand and wagged his tail. Then went back to being sad. Poor little guy.
After that we went home and got showered and started drinking and cooking. Debbie and Debi made twice baked potatoes and some cheese and herb puffs, and we ate some mini quiches too! Greg made some chocolate cheesecake that he's just off putting the finishing touches to so I'm looking forward to that! We went out around 8pm since we had no tickets for anywhere and were going to have to queue.
We ended up going to a place called The Cellar which is the downstairs club part of Doolins Irish Pub where we had been a couple times before. It was $40 cover but we did get somewhere to sit and a free beer. It was a pretty good night overall. I got pretty drunk and felt pretty awful for a good part of today.
Today, Debi made cullen skink for lunch. Although I don't think you get smoked haddock here so she used cod instead. It was pretty much the best thing I've eaten for the past while and exactly what I needed to cure my hangover. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
For dinner we made a vegetable lasagne from one of Debbie's new recipe books and it was pretty tasty too. We've been eating well. I'm pretty excited about the chocolate cheesecake too!
A little while ago Greg went and broke some branches off the extra Christmas tree we have and we tried to light a fire in our fireplace but the branches were still too wet and we pretty much just burned loads of newspaper. Soon though, when those branches dry out and we buy a fire log then we'll be in front of a big roaring open fire! Can't wait!
That's all for now guys!
